Dear Residents and Business Owners of Hainesport,
The past year has been one of many changes at the Hainesport Fire Company. We bid goodbye to Chief William Wiley after 35 years of service to the Township and a new chief, Nick Macken, was elected. We sent seven candidates to the BCESTC for Firefighter One classes and had an additional seven fully qualified Firefighters join our department. These additional fourteen members have created a financial hardship for us since new PPE and turnout gear needed to be purchased. We also found out that our cascade, which we utilize to refill our SCBA bottles, is no longer compliant with NFPA regulations and needs to be replaced.
Due to recent studies showing a relationship between combustion byproducts and carcinogens the NFPA has also issued more stringent regulations regarding the care, cleaning and sanitizing of our PPE. These regulations require that our PPE be cleaned and sanitized after exposure to fire. Hainesport Fire Company currently lacks this equipment necessary to adhere to these regulations.
Your donations to our annual fund drive will be used to help defray the cost of the items mentioned above as well as purchase the necessary cleaning equipment to keep our firefighters safe. You are now able to donate via PayPal and credit cards through the Fire Company website: Hainesportfire.org click on the ‘Donate’ button.
We are proud to be a 100% volunteer organization. Whether responding to an alarm system, a dwelling fire, motor vehicle accident or a large scale incident, the highly trained men and women of your fire department respond 24 hours a day, seven days a week, three hundred sixty five days a year, to make sure you and your property are protected.
We look forward to your continued support this year as you have in previous years.
Sincerely yours,
The Volunteers of the
Hainesport Volunteer Fire Company
