Raymond A. Derickson of Hainesport passed away Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2013, at his home. He was 82.
A retired member of the Iron Workers Local 401 and former State Director of the NJ NCHA, he was a longtime and dedicated Hainesport resident.
Having volunteered countless hours to his community, Raymond was the oldest active member of the Hainesport Fire Company and a former Chief. He was also past Captain of the Hainesport Fire Police, Captain of the Burlington County Fire Police and served as Deputy Fire Police Coordinator. Ray was also a charter and Life Member of the Hainesport Emergency Squad.
Father of the late Walter R. Derickson, he is survived by his loving wife, Joan, of over 62 years; two children, daughter, Susan Derickson; son and daughter-in-law: Greg and Cheryl Derickson, all of Hainesport; two grandchildren: Mandi Varga Maffetone (Vinnie), and Ronald Varga (Nicole); four great-grandchildren, Nicholas and Angelo Maffetone, and Trey and Addison Ray Varga. He also is survived by a nephew, Robert Stanley.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday in the Perinchief Chapels, 438 High St., Mount Holly. Friends may visit with the family on Friday from 6 to 9 p.m. and on Saturday from 9 to 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow the service in the Hillside Cemetery, Roslyn, Pa.
